Hi, My name is Nicholas Messina. For the last Decade I have been training dogs full time. I think of the work as a practice. It is something that is perpetually changing with time and growing deeper and deeper with every day.
When working with dogs and their guardians, it is really important to take inventory of the individual dog’’s needs and its owners. After all, there is an intersection that is the relationship of dog and owner. We both come to the table with our own needs. Finding a way to honor all participants is where the work is.
Because we are working towards building a healthy and balanced human-dog relationship, communication is going to be imperative. So, learning how to build and implement that communication system is key.
While most dog trainers seemingly focus on behavior and obedience, I have found concepts to be of greater importance as of late. However, its through teaching basic behaviors that afford us the oppurtunity to ultimately land on certain concepts.
My goal with any client is to share with them my insights into dog behavior, communications, play, and building/teaching behavior so we can set our human-dog relationship up for long term success.
Learning how to honor your dog. And have that be reciprocal. Essentially, how do we parent our pets and guide them towards a life that can be fulfilling and enriching for all parties involved. Learning how to parent outside of your species.
I love working with dogs and their owners. I look forward to sharing this passion and practice with all of you.
regards
Nicholas Messina
